On March 13, during the framework of the 1st Ordinary Session of the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), the Institutional Accreditation recognition was presented to the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), at its facilities located in the city of La Paz.
This important recognition was celebrated on April 15 during a ceremony held in the Aula Magna of the Tampico Campus, in which university authorities, representatives of the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES), and the academic community highlighted the impact of this achievement on the education of its students.
The event was attended by the rector of the UAT, Veterinarian and Master of Science Dámaso Anaya Alvarado; the Secretary General, Dr. María Concepción Placencia Valadez; the Academic Secretary, Dr. Rosa Issel Acosta González; as well as the Director of Evaluation and Accreditation, José Iván Lara Treviño.
Representing CIEES, Mtro. Francisco Javier Solana Ortiz, Executive Member of the Social and Administrative Sciences area, also participated in the event.
During his address, the rector emphasized that this achievement represents one of the most significant milestones in the institution's history, stating that:
"Today we celebrate the result of the collective work of a University that chose to move forward as a community, with determination toward academic excellence."
He further stressed that achieving 100% accredited programs not only strengthens the UAT's standing at the national level, but also reaffirms the role of public education as a driver of social transformation.
As part of the ceremony, recognitions were presented to six educational programs evaluated during the 2025-3 period by external organizations. Among them, the Medical Surgeon program of the Matamoros School of Medicine, accredited by the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education (COMAEM), stood out, as well as the Public Accounting and Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Trade programs of the Nuevo Laredo School of Commerce, Administration and Social Sciences, and the Higher University Technician in Dental Prosthetics program of the School of Dentistry, all evaluated by CIEES.
This event represents the result of the collective effort of the university community and reaffirms the UAT's commitment to continuous improvement, academic relevance, and the training of highly qualified professionals capable of meeting the needs of the country.
CIEES reiterates its commitment to accompanying higher education institutions throughout their external evaluation processes, contributing to the strengthening of educational quality in Mexico.
