As part of its commitment to strengthening educational quality in Latin America, the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES) participated in the international accreditation ceremony of the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano (UNA), in Puno, Peru.

Representing the General Coordination of CIEES, Mtro. Francisco Javier Solana Ortiz, Executive Member of the Social and Administrative Sciences Committee, attended this important academic event, in which recognitions were awarded to five educational programs that obtained international accreditation under the CIEES-México 2026 model.

The accredited programs were:

  • Economics Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Tourism
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration

The ceremony took place on April 9, 2026, and was attended by university authorities led by the rector, Dr. Paulino Machaca Ari, as well as academic directors and coordinators of the evaluated programs.

During the event, Mtro. Solana Ortiz delivered the keynote lecture entitled "Strategies for the Sustainability and Follow-up of International Accreditation in Study Programs," in which he highlighted the importance of consolidating continuous improvement processes that ensure the quality and relevance of higher education in a global context.

The event included the presentation of certifications, recognitions, and medals to authorities, directors, and members of the quality committees of each program, as part of the acknowledgment of the institutional effort to meet international evaluation standards.

This achievement reaffirms the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano's commitment to academic excellence and strengthens the collaborative ties with CIEES,

opening the possibility of future accreditation processes for other educational programs and even for the institution as a whole.

For CIEES, the consolidation of international accreditation processes in Peru represents a strategic step in its positioning as a Mexican agency with regional reach, by contributing to the assurance of educational quality beyond its borders and strengthening confidence in its evaluation models. Likewise, these actions promote academic cooperation in Latin America and reaffirm Mexico's role as a benchmark in the evaluation and continuous improvement of higher education.
