Program Accreditation
Educational program evaluation is an essential procedure to ensure that a program effectively fulfills its educational purpose, while guaranteeing it has the conditions necessary to achieve its objectives.
In this process, outcomes are compared against criteria detailed in standards that are carefully constructed and periodically reviewed in collaboration with academic and institutional stakeholders, based on best national and international practices.
The importance of program evaluation lies in its capacity to provide an objective and systematic assessment, contributing to continuous improvement in educational quality.
Evaluation and Accreditation Process
MY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IS ELIGIBLE IF
- It is part of the National Education System;
- It has a current study plan;
- It is not in the process of dissolution;
- It has at least one graduating class; and
- For health-related programs, a current favorable technical-academic opinion from CIFRHS is required.
FORMAL REQUEST
The institution sends an official letter accompanied by the evaluation request form.
SELF-EVALUATION STAGE
The institution receives access credentials to begin the self-evaluation stage using the GAPES tool.
EXTERNAL EVALUATION VISIT
The institution receives the CPAE (Peer Evaluator Committee) for an on-site, remote or hybrid external evaluation visit.
ACCREDITATION DECISION
The corresponding Interinstitutional Committee deliberates the results of the self-evaluation and the external evaluation visit.
DELIVERY OF REPORT AND DECISION
The institution receives from CIEES the result letter, the evaluation report and, where applicable, the accreditation recognition.

CIEES uses a purpose-centered evaluation methodology, emphasizing student and program outcomes, which includes minimum indicators common to any higher education program in Mexico.
